Another winning day! Five in a row feels good. I put in the hands necessary for Supernova yesterday but not enough to get myself caught up for the year. January 4th really hurt me when I decided to play 75 hands LOL. For some reason, I was getting a little bored playing the 50NL tables yesterday so I decided to play a few hands at the 100NL tables. Well, I only made it through 57 hands before I realized I ran hotter than the sun and booked the $94.40 win. Good times. Here are the poker results:

January 5, 2011
Hands: 2,215
+/-: +$164.55
VPP's: 388.52

2011
Hands: 5,840
+/-: +$616.85

I fell behind pace again yesterday. I played 75 hands. That's right, 75 hands. I am happy to report I booked a winning day. But I just wasn't in the mood to play I guess. I've been waking up with cold symptoms the past few days so I haven't felt my best. I'm also about 20 lbs. over weight so yesterday, I started doing 40 push ups and 100 sit ups to start my day. This was a huge shock to my body because I've basically not been active in months. Although it's good for my body in the long run, it makes me feel weird right now. Instead of gaining more energy, I was actually really tired throughout the day. I can't really explain it. I just did not want to play poker yesterday. Here are the results:

January 4, 2011

Hands: 75
+/-: +$66.90
VPP's: 15.07

2011
Hands: 3625

January 3, 2011

I got back on track yesterday after slacking the day before. Actually, I didn't slack the day before because I was out of town. Regardless, I got back on pace for Supernova which is good. Once again, I booked a winning day by playing 3 mini sessions. It seems that 3-4 "mini" sessions are really going well lately. I'll fire up 6-9 tables and play for ~45 minutes rather than 6-9 tables of 2-3 hours. I'm still playing the PokerStars 50NL 20-50bb tables and will continue to do so until I feel they're not more profitable than the 40-100bb tables. Not much more to say about yesterday. Oh wait. I achieved my first Stellar Reward bonus yesterday. 750 VPP milestone for $10!!! I think I'll wait to redeem it until I have more of them so it feels like a bigger payday.

January 2, 2011

I didn't get to put many hands in yesterday. My dad's family decided to get together for a Christmas/New Years lunch in the Land Between the Lakes (2 hours away) so I decided to attend. It was fun meeting up with some of my cousins I hadn't seen in almost ten years. I'm also surprised to report the food was actually really good. We ate at this place called Pattis 1880 Settlement . I wasn't too impressed with the ambiance and decor but I guess if you like that type of old school shit, it was pretty cool.

Anyway, here are the poker results:

January 2, 2010
Hands: 501
+/-: +$97.90
VPP's: 100.43

2011
Hans: 1835
+/-: +$285.50

January 1, 2011

I've started 2011 with a win. I played just over 1300 hands and won $187.60. This earned me 318 VPP's so I've started 2011 over pace of my 100k VPP goal. I've been playing the PokerStars .25/.50 NLHE 20-50bb tables lately. I probably prefer 100bb poker but the 20-50bb tables are so loose. I don't really like how light they play preflop but I'm making the proper adjustments.

Here's a hand that I feel would never happen at a 100bb deep table but for 50bb's, I guess TPGK is the nuts.

Chase for Supernova VIP on PokerStars

I've decided that I'd like to achieve Supernova VIP status on PokerStars this year. If I grind steadily throughout the year, it shouldn't be very difficult. The 100k VPP requirement for Supernova only requires ~$50 paid rake per day. As an absolute minimum, I'd like to achieve 100k VPP's. Realistically, I think 200k VPP's is not out of the question and would provide me an additional $8,100. The benefits of Supernova status on PokerStars are quite a big deal (to me).

As a Supernova VIP, I would be given a 3.5 FPP multiplier, have access to the $4,000 instant cash bonus, concierge service available, and many other perks. FPPpro.com estimates a 100k VPP Supernova to be worth 33% rakeback. Thats a whole lot better than the 27% weighted contributed method Full Tilt now uses. On top of the better rakeback percentage, PokerStars offers so much more game selection. It's the world's largest poker site so why not play there?

I have some new life changes coming up this year so hopefully everything goes well. I start back in school later this month which I'm not looking forward to but feel is necessary. I'm also back home living with my parents again which is a drag but also necessary. If poker goes well, hopefully I can afford to move out and get my own place again. I am happy to report I left my job in July and feel good about it. I was going nowhere fast in the golf business and very unhappy with the way my life was turning out. I think moving home and getting my life re situated was a plus. And it also gave me time grind!

I'm really looking forward to 2011. Hopefully, I can knock out my school work, grind a bunch of VPP's, make some money, and lose the weight I've put on. I'll use this blog to update what's going on and will hopefully look back at the end of 2011 with no regrets.

Happy New Year!
